Blackpink’s Jisoo, Park Jeong-min share why ‘Newtopia’ feels like a fairytale

Blackpink’s Jisoo and actor Park Jeong-min have been cast in the highly anticipated South Korean television series Newtopia, blending elements of romance and the zombie apocalypse.

Set to premiere on Feb. 7, on the Coupang Play streaming platform in South Korea, Newtopia will also be available globally through Amazon Prime Video.

The series follows Lee Jae-yoon, portrayed by Park Jeong-min, a soldier caught amid a zombie outbreak during his military service.

Jisoo plays Kang, his love interest, in a storyline that combines the high-stakes tension of a zombie apocalypse with a heartfelt romantic narrative.

The series offers a unique “fairytale” set against a tragic backdrop, exploring themes of resilience, hope, and survival in extraordinary circumstances.

Jisoo, who has been expanding her acting career, is building on her previous role in Snowdrop, while Park Jeong-min brings his acclaimed acting experience to the project.

Directed by a team of seasoned creators with a track record of successful K-dramas, Newtopia is set to deliver both visually captivating special effects depicting the zombie apocalypse and an emotionally resonant love story at its core.
