16 illegal immigrants found in Bexar County, man arrested for suspected smuggling

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Authorities have uncovered a human smuggling operation in San Antonio, leading to the arrest of a man with 13 outstanding warrants.

Abelardo Herrera was taken into custody during a joint operation by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The operation, which was part of broader efforts to address human smuggling and illegal immigration, followed a tip that led law enforcement to a location in the San Antonio area.

At the scene, authorities discovered 16 individuals who were illegally present in the United States.

Herrera, who faces charges related to human smuggling, is under investigation for his role in facilitating illegal border crossings.

He was found with several outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.

The individuals uncovered during the operation have not been identified, and authorities are working with federal agencies to determine the next steps in accordance with immigration laws.
