MANILA, Philippines — Deanna Wong marked her return to the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) with a standout performance as Choco Mucho secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over ZUS Coffee at the Philsports Arena during the PVL All-Filipino Conference 2024-25 season.
Wong, back after a five-month absence, played a pivotal role in the Flying Titans’ comeback. Despite dropping the first two sets 20-25, 20-25, Choco Mucho rallied to win the next two sets, 25-22, and forced a deciding fifth set, which they clinched 15-9.
Wong recorded 10 excellent sets and seven points, orchestrating the turnaround and providing the leadership needed to guide her team to victory.
The match also featured a stellar performance from Sisi Rondina, who led all players with 25 points and added nine receptions.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat contributed 19 points, while Isa Molde and rookie Lorraine Pecaña supported the team with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
For ZUS Coffee, the loss marked their third straight defeat, dropping their record to 2-4. Despite leading after the first two sets, they could not maintain their momentum as Choco Mucho dominated the final three sets.
Chai Troncoso paced ZUS Coffee with 17 points, while three other players contributed double-figure scores.
Choco Mucho head coach Dante Alinsunurin acknowledged the team’s need for improvement, especially in the synchronization of offense, blocking, and defense.
However, he credited the victory to the collective effort of the team, noting that they showed resilience in overcoming early setbacks.
This victory marked Choco Mucho’s second consecutive win, following earlier defeats to Cignal and Creamline.
With Wong back in action, the Flying Titans are optimistic about continuing their winning streak and improving their standing in the league.
