MANILA, Philippines –Actress and comedian Rufa Mae Quinto has alerted her fans about a scam involving impersonators using her name to trick people into sending money.

The fraudulent activity has caused concern among her followers, prompting Quinto to issue a warning on her Instagram Stories.

On Saturday, January 18, Quinto shared a screenshot of a conversation where a scammer pretended to be her, reaching out to an acquaintance and claiming that money was urgently needed for bail.

The impersonator used a false narrative about Quinto’s situation to manipulate emotions and deceive the victim into sending money.

In her post, Quinto urged her followers to be cautious and verify any suspicious messages or requests they may receive.

She explained that sharing the scammer’s tactics was essential in preventing others from falling victim to the scheme.
