AUSTIN, Texas — A beloved food truck, Lotz of BBQ, was returned to its owner in Southeast Austin after being stolen the morning after Christmas.

The investigation into the theft was supported by the local community, with residents using social media and distributing flyers to spread the word.

Local businesses also assisted by offering surveillance footage to help track the truck’s whereabouts. This collaboration between law enforcement, business owners, and the community played a crucial role in the truck’s recovery.

The truck was taken in the early hours of December 26, prompting the owner to contact local law enforcement immediately.

Food trucks, often targeted due to their mobility and value, have become a growing concern in the area. Authorities have since focused on enhancing security measures for mobile businesses to prevent future thefts.

Upon the truck’s return, the owner expressed gratitude for the swift response and community support.

Loyal customers also showed their appreciation by visiting the food truck once it resumed operations.
