SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A man was killed in a shooting late Thursday night on Houston’s west side, local authorities confirmed.

Emergency responders arrived at the 8300 block of Potranco Road, near the intersection with West Military Drive and Ingram Road, following reports of gunfire in the area.

Police received the call just before midnight. Upon arrival, officers found the victim with gunshot wounds.

Despite efforts by medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators have launched an inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police have not identified any suspects or motives at this time. The scene was cordoned off as officers gathered forensic evidence and interviewed potential witnesses.

Residents expressed concerns about the rising violence in their neighborhood following the fatal shooting. Police have increased patrols in the area and are urging the community to provide any information that could assist in the investigation.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby properties and conducting background checks to establish whether the victim had any known connections that might provide leads. Law enforcement officials emphasized the importance of community cooperation in resolving the case.

The Houston Police Department has announced a press conference later this week to provide updates on the investigation.

Family members of the victim are receiving support from local victim services, while community members have expressed their condolences to the grieving family.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to bring those responsible to justice. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
